Guild Rules
See also: Loot Rules

Guild rules are broken out down below. We reserve the right to add or change rules as we deem necessary.

If you still want to apply to the guild after reading the rules, contact one of the guild officers. They are:

  • Blynd
  • Grezzk
  • Gulukar
  • Stonestrider
  • Varonaard

Regardless of anything else, there is always a three-week 'trial' period for all new members, so we can determine whether or not your a good fit for the guild.

General Conduct
  1. "Use your big-boy words.": Farstriders is an RP server. We expect all of our guild members to exercise their undeniable mastery of the English language when using guild channels. Don't make use of ‘u’, ‘ur’, 'any1′, ’sry’, ‘plz’, and other pointlessly shortened words -- be grown-up; type it out. ((ROFL, LOL, etc are fine... if kind of annoying. Phrases such as AFK and BRB, et cetera are useful and allowed, if only because they're practically ubiquitous in certain circles, even in spoken English.)
  2. "That ain't French": Try to keep guild chat civilized and adult. Do civilized adults swear?  Hell yes, but we also don't turn the guild channel into an uncensored South Park sketch.
  3. "No beggers": We're here to have fun and help each other. We aren't here to be your sugar daddy -- any gifts you get from guild members are the result of kindness, not obligation -- don't try to take advantage of either.
  4. "That's a funny kind of name": See a more detailed explanation the rules for Character Names in the section below.
  5. "Where'd everyone go?": When grouped with other members (and other non-members), don't ditch in the middle of an Instance. If your time is limited, inform the people you are grouping with how much time you have before you even get started.
  6. "Let's Make a Deal": Feel free to sell cool gear to a fellow guild member, but use /tells to organize it, not the guild channel. Private transactions with members should be PRIVATE.
  7. Open sez me: You must include the word "hamburger" somewhere in your guild application to confirm that you have read, understood and agree with these guidelines. Applications that do not include this word will be summarily binned.
  8. "We are not fans of Drama": We expect you  to handle disputes with other members on your own. Don't let those disputes spill into the guild channel. If an officer has to get involved in sorting the mess out, be assured that no one involved (including the officer) is going to like the result.
  9. "Vent: it's not just for voice-chat anymore": We all get frustrated and have to vent once in a while. Occasionally doing this on guild chat is okay as long as it’s kept to a reasonable level.
  10. "And make sure you play nice with the other kids.": When you're out in the world (of warcraft), behave responsibly. No kill stealing, no ninja looting, no harassing people in /yell or on general, observe the rules of an RP Server, et cetera.

Naming Guidelines

Here are some guidelines for choosing names. Please keep in mind the Farstriders is an RP server, and thus the naming policy is more strict than other servers. We reserve the right to deny membership for any reason, including character name -- sometimes especially for a character name.

Good

  • Obscure or somewhat obscure names from mythology
  • Unusual names
  • Names that you make up yourself
  • Names you get from Blizzard’s random name generator
  • Names that follow in the vein of Blizzard's naming conventions, et cetera.

Bad

  • A name from other well-known fiction
  • A name constructed as [adjective][race] or [adjective][class], even if it’s spelled differently.
  • A name that forms a phrase (though there are possible exceptions for 'tribal style' names, like "Wolfson," or "Standsliketree," or something.

Ask yourself if your name is something you'd see in WoW lore or fiction. If the answer's no... there's a good chance ours will be as well.

Ultimately, the final decision is that of the guild officers.

Timeout Policy
Guild members who go inactive for 30 days or more will be removed from the guild unless the officers have been informed of an absence. If you do go idle and are removed, you can send a tell to any officer once you come back, and we’ll be happy to invite you back, assuming we were happy to have you in the first place.

Cheating/Hacking/Scamming
We do not cheat, hack, or exploit. Don't do it, and don't brag about it if you used to do it -- we'll kick you and report you.
